Hard Armor Plates Forming Press
A ballistic plate is a piece of protective equipment designed to defend against threats such as bullets and shrapnel. It is typically manufactured from materials such as aramid, polyethylene (PE), or ballistic ceramics. Production involves using a dedicated hydraulic press and a mold to form the insert in a single operation under high temperature and pressure.
Description
This hard body armor plate forming press is a core piece of equipment designed specifically for ballistic plate production lines. Featuring a three-beam, four-column structure, it is suitable for processes such as hot-press molding UHMWPE (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) sheets, compression bonding ceramic composite ballistic plates (using alumina, silicon carbide, or boron carbide), and composite hot-pressing ceramic tiles onto PE backings.
By utilizing precise high-pressure application, constant-temperature holding, and staged degassing, the hydraulic press ensures uniform density, dimensional accuracy of curved surfaces, and strong interlaminar bonding in the ballistic plates. The finished products meet various ballistic protection standards. PDH‘s ballistic plate molding press is widely used in the manufacture of ballistic inserts for tactical vests and hard protective plates.
Common tonnage options: 315T, 400T, 630T, 800T, 1000T, 1200T, 1500T (customization available upon request).

Applicable Materials for Pressing
- UHMWPE (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) ballistic plates (integrated hot-pressing of soft/hard PE inserts)
- Composite ballistic plates featuring alumina, silicon carbide, or boron carbide ceramic tiles
- Aramid composites and fiber-reinforced composite ballistic sheets
- Ceramic and PE backing plate assemblies (bonded and press-molded)
Core Structure and Advantages of Ballistic Plate Molding Press
1. Machine Structure
Three-beam, four-column structure. The columns are made of high-strength alloy steel with hard-chrome plating, offering high resistance to off-center loads and excellent structural rigidity. High slide parallelism ensures uniform pressure distribution across the platen, effectively preventing defects such as uneven thickness or localized porosity in the material.
2. Hydraulic Control System
Utilizes an integrated hydraulic system with cartridge valves, resulting in minimal hydraulic shock and fewer potential leakage points. Supports multi-stage pressurization, repeated air venting, and sustained pressure holding. Pressure, descending speed, and dwell time are independently adjustable, perfectly matching the requirements for PE hot-press melting and composite material curing processes.

3. Intelligent Electrical Control System
PLC and touchscreen-based CNC system supporting manual, semi-automatic, and fully automatic modes. Features dual molding modes: constant-pressure and constant-stroke. Capabilities include real-time pressure curve data acquisition, temperature monitoring, fault alarms, and production counting. Process parameters can be saved and recalled with a single touch, facilitating quick changeovers between different board specifications.
4. Hot Pressing Configuration (Optional)
The worktable features built-in heating channels paired with a mold temperature control unit. The mold temperature range is from ambient to 180°C, with a platen temperature uniformity of ≤±3°C, ensuring consistent hot pressing. Supports water-cooling cycles to shorten production times.

5. Safety Features
Equipped with photoelectric safety protection, a hydraulic cylinder interlock circuit (upper/lower chambers), overload protection, over-pressure alarms, and an emergency stop device to ensure safety during continuous mass production.
6. Customization Capabilities
Worktable dimensions, slide stroke, daylight opening, and ejection cylinder tonnage can all be customized. Supports multi-cavity mold configurations to significantly boost production capacity. Can be integrated with automatic feeding and unloading mechanisms to establish a fully automated production line.
Typical Process Flow (PE Ballistic Plate)
Stacking of multi-layer UHMWPE fibers → Mold preheating → Rapid mold closing → Low-speed pressurization and air venting → High-temperature, high-pressure holding and melting → Constant-temperature mold cooling → Pressure release and mold opening → Removal of finished product
